I did it! I was on the garage roof today with my new harness. Worked great, I’m just watching ur video once again to make sure I’m doing it right because I’m going up again in the morning. Thanks again!
0:50 where I can buy the 'invisible' fall protection rope lifeline with lanyard???😂😂
What do u think about adding a solar roof fan in addition to my ridge cap vent? I used the same materials and technique u did I believe but I’m getting up to 120 inside air in attic on a 88-90F day. And with a laser gun the sheathing in attic hits 139F. Thoughts ? My roof is on a raised ranch with a decent pitch but not steep
How did you cut the 3 inch gap in the roof. I missed something. My roof has turbines. Who and how cut the gap?
Lets cut to the chase, if that's actually hail damage, it has zero affect on when that roof should have been replaced. This is all just a game to get a new roof on someone else's dime.
what size/length nails are you using for the ridge shingles on top of the ridge cap? Are they standard 1-1/4" nails or longer? Thanks. Great video.
I've always thought that headwall flashing works best with no nails going through the roof deck. They say not to depend on blackjack to hold water out but that's what's happening when you apply a beauty strip. I make sure to use a color that blends with roof and no dents or bends. I then install over the last row with a good bead of bj under the flashing. You can barely tell the metal is there unless your looking closely. Is this a bad practice? Is the beauty strip purely for looks I'm assuming? Id prefer function over aesthetics so long as it's not ugly
Great video, just had my roof done and they let the metal exposed, trying to get them back here to finish the job. Thanks
that's right and common sense which most people do not have lol. Roof with more water coming down needs to over to other roof. So if you have a smaller roof, with a lower ridge then the main roof, shingle that side first, then the higher roof will over lap that one. Many people don't think about water flow when building. You need to pay attention to that on roofs, siding, installing windows, etc. anywhere where water will be present
Great job. My is leak too. I want to fix it. How can I contact you. Thanks
Im going to be doing this first time alone.. I think if I pick grace, I will have problems so I need a ice and water I can reposition but still adheres good.
Pretty good except for the 2nd cap nail. That makes it a bit harder to get your line straight with no wrinkles.
This explains nothing.
You Are Wrong 😢 Amén.
I'm not sure why there was the statement of that " this is or could be a trial and error thing" roofing is not trial and error. Its take a very certain person and skill level to be a roofers. I have never returned to a leak when i got a call but then again i been roofing 17 years now and own a roofing company. Not trying to knock you guys as your actually up on the roof and for that i command you for that but we should have been able to find that leak with out pulling any of them shingles off and by the way them look like IKO's and if so that's a whole different topic to talk about. Nice work guys you got the job done tho and that is what matters. Hope Custmer was happy. No one wants water falling on there fucking head from and roof leaking that's no fun. I apologize for my typing you know us rooofers always beat up phones screen protectors cracked and case is barely hanging on lol.
WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! After 51 years of roofing, I'm not going to bother explaining why. (and who taught you how to hold roof nails?)
Just went thru the comments. 🤣🤣🤣 Pretty funny. Lot of ridiculous haters. That roof looks perfect. 👍
Another key feature, Mexicans. They do an awesome job. No fooling around. Bust butt and get the job done.
im not a roofer but the 1st thing I noticed was the ridge is off to one side of the peak of the roof, not centered on the peak... whats going on there? looks ridiculous as far as aesthetics go
it was on center. It appears that it wasn’t in the final TOP view because you shingle over the ends of the roof at least the last 6” to stop wind/water penetration into the ridge. The “ends shingled over” gave the optical illusion of the ridge vent being off center because of color variation.
It's 2024 and still watching. Thanks. On to more home improvement projects, thanks to this helpful video.

There's NO 'W' In The Word On !!!
Awesome video guys, exactly what I needed to watch. The first video as well, glad I did not have to spend all day watch for the one I wanted.
As a Roofer. 62 years old you find these cushions in old couches. They are old couch cushions. This trick was shown to me the very first time I ever Install's shingles. Now that was back in the day when we Hand nailed 3 tab shingles. 8 bucks a square. Try that today people.
You're on a roof filming a video about wearing safety harnesses, while working on a rooves and you're not wearing a safety harness in the beginning!!!
Good advice but you need to show a sample of the Contractor Invoice to Bill Depreciation
I completely agree with this video. I install these on 98% of the roofs I do. Am currently replacing some on a roof I did 2 years ago due to a tree branch. It’s ridiculous, there’s no easy way to separate them. Top quality but a pain to replace.
Great video, thanks. Horrible distracting unnecessary music.
wear a rope and harness you are on a roof you need to live dont take risks
What a pain in the arse!
Terminights
Great video where do you get the shoes?
But do you snap chalk lines?
Thank you so much for the video. If I like to find some dark brown solaris shake, which one I should consider? Thank you again!
How do you safely get up the roof to apply the nailed in attachment
In the close up you show the color weathered wood and not autumn blend.
Do you have to 45 the nail end
How does one fall from that roof?
I woudlnt let these guys roof a doghouse
Hes nailing way to close to the valley on those
Funny how the instructions say specifically not to do that, but it seems like it’s meant for it
Starter hanging over 1/2 inch is plenty enough.
I have a roof leak and my roof is roughly 15 years old. I can’t find any roofer who will come out to try to find a leak, but only will do a roof. What do you do in cases like this? It’s very frustrating because I hired a neighbor roofer and there really was no formal paperwork, under the table basically and he’s moved. Does this mean I need to replace an entire roof over a leak?
great video
Lies! They eant to maximize profit by not doing a propeer asessment of damages themselves. They just run with whatever the insurance claim plus they ask for extra citing all sorts of bullshit. Never show these shady scum you insurance claim prior to them doing their own estimate of the scope of work. This is to give yourself the best chance that all items that need fixing are included. It will give you the ability to catch items insurance may have missed. Also always ask for material information. Understand options, quality of each option and warranty. If ancontractor doesnt want to deal transparently dont waste your time. Tell them tomove on and you call the next. Tell them up front what you need and make it clear you want a damage assessment estimate with materials and options for upgrade such as shingle quality, underlayment, flashing replacement and so on. If they say thats too much work to do for free, call the next local roofer with good reviews.
DO NOT SHOW YOUR CONTRACTOR THE INSURANCE ASSESSMENT AND CLAIM APPROVED TOTAL. THEY WANTNTO SEE IT SO THEY CAN ALWAYS COMEMUP WITH THAT AMOUNT PLUS TO EXTRACT THE MAX. IT IS UNETHICAL AND SHADY. THEY SHOULD DO THEIR OWN DAMAGE ASESSMENT AND PROVIDE A DETAILED ESTIMATE INCLUDIMG WHAT MATERIALS THEY WILL USE AND WHAT WORK WILL BE DONE ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION THEY KNOW TODAY. DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS WOMAN!
I have ridge vent and soffit vents with the holes every 3 feet or so, will replacing the soffit with the kind that has the holes with no gaps make a difference, I still get ice dams in winter, cape cod hose so no attic to get into to add insulation in roof
When you're on a 12-pitch roof and you're relying on the harness to keep you on there. Is anyone else worried about the shock absorber accidentally deploying because of all your body weight. I mean you'd be fine but you could still fall off the roof cuz it's about a 6 ft of lanyard so you'd be dangling
Not many are tying off on a walker like that 😢
